Network Logo Collection Updated

Network Logos We’ve just completed a major update to our collection of network logos. Television, Sirius Radio, and XM Radio lineups have been revisited and completely overhauled to insure that this is the most complete collection of quality, high-resolution network logos available.

The network logos are available individually or as part of our award-winning CoPilot software. If you’re already using CoPilot, you’ll be prompted with an option to update automatically the next time you launch the app.

If there are ever any additional network logos that you need, just drop us a line in the comments. We’re continuously improving the collection.

Uiology: The Evolution of the Touch Panel Cursor

Simple CursorThe Simple Cursor
The Simple Cursor is the most basic of all cursor controls and consists of 5 buttons representing up, down, left, right, and select. Each button can have a different image for inactive and active states totaling 10 images. A separate background image can also be incorporated. This works well on simple designs that incorporate oversized controls since the active states are otherwise obscured by the user’s finger.

The Multi-Mode Cursor
Multi-Mode CursorThe Multi-Mode Cursor unfortunately doesn’t work across all platforms, but where it works, it works very well. This cursor is made up of a single image representing the entire inactive state, and 5 images representing up, down, left, right, and select. This requires only 6 images in total, each displaying the entire cursor control in its respective state. Transparent buttons are placed over the desired hot spots to activate each function. Since only one image for each state is shown at any one time, the appearance of the entire cursor can be altered with each touch — note the green light being cast across the center of the cursor from the top.

9-Square Grid CursorThe 9-Square Grid Cursor
The 9-Square Grid Cursor divides its bounding area into a 3×3 matrix. The four corners are fillers designed to give the cursor a unibody appearance. The remaining 5 squares make up the touchable hot spots and can utilize additional images for active states. The 9-Square Grid Cursor is compatible with all platforms and generally looks better than the Simple Cursor, but shares the same issue of its active states being obscured when touched. Its active states also falls short of the Multi-Mode Cursor in terms of potential eye-candy. Adaptation and Insight maximize the capabilities of the 9-Square Grid Cursor.

The Guifx Perimeter Cursor
Guifx Perimeter CursorOur latest innovation is the Guifx Perimeter Cursor which takes the best attributes of our preceding cursor styles and combines them into a single, elegant design. The touchable hot spots work the same as with the 9-Square Grid Cursor, but each row and column around the perimeter of the bounding area are capable of displaying full active states similar to those previously only possible with the Multi-Mode Cursor. But unlike the Multi-Mode Cursor, the Guifx Perimeter Cursor works across all platforms. You’ll find the Guifx Perimeter Cursor implemented in Meta, S3, and many more Guifx designs to come.

What’s next for the touch panel cursor? Oh believe me, we’re already working on it ;)

Uiology™ is our study of user interfaces. In this series we will analyze and document solutions to the GUI, the bad, and the ugly — seeking to raise the bar for the industry we know and love. Drop your thoughts and suggestions in the comments.

New Graphic Set - Insight

When I showed these buttons to our Director of Operations he said… “Did you use Turtle Wax? Those are some seriously shiny buttons!”. Haha, no I didn’t use Turtle Wax. But I love sharp, crisp, ultra-shiny buttons, and that is exactly what these are. I know I’m a little more than biased, but I really, REALLY love this set. We titled it Insight.
Insight Graphic Set
Also, just like some of our other Graphic Sets, in the Photoshop version we’ve included an adjustment layer to easily modify the color of Insight’s buttons. So you can make them green, orange, or any color you’d like. If you’d like to know how that’s done exactly, just watch the Hyperglass videos… Insight works just like that. :)

We really enjoy hearing your feedback. So please check out Insight and let us know what you think. Or just let us know, well, anything really. We love hearing from you, whatever the topic may be.

Celebrating the Retirement of Heritage and Curacao

Today we’ve announced that we are officially discontinuing sales of all Heritage and Curacao templates for Crestron. The Heritage and Curacao products by Guiwerx have been great assets to our store for quite some time. However, due to dated techniques used in their construction, we have decided to no longer carry them.

Fans of the Heritage and Curacao designs will however enjoy learning that Guiwerx has implemented both styles into their popular FlexTheme template for a wide array of Crestron hardware.

What does this discontinuation mean for customers that have already purchased Heritage or Curacao?

First, Guifx will still provide its world-class phone and email support for all customers that have purchased any Heritage or Curacao products. We are always committed to serving your needs and that does not stop here. Second, those who have purchased Heritage or Curacao will still be able to download their purchases and any updates through the Orders & Download Manager in the My Account section of the store.

Looking forward, the discontinuation of Heritage and Curacao marks our commitment to bringing the very best products to our customers. Guifx and all of our design partners are continuously improving their methods of creating professionally designed UIs.
